My son was fifteen, at the time, and we included pictures of us doing hobbies, at work, at play and at home. Lots of pictures of pets, yard, neighborhood, schools and vacation pictures from somewhere we go each year. We did pictures playing cards, at a baseball game, swimming, snorkeling and other stuff we do frequently.
We also included pictures of the immediate extended family (if there is such a thing!) - grandparents and aunts. Pictures and narrative of the house - kitchen, bedrooms, living room, family room.
Since I knew my STBAS liked animals, we really focused on the dogs, goats and horses. Included their names, ages, personalities and their "rooms".
We did personalize it with my son's name and comments on things he might like to do ... "here's the hammock under the big tree - you might like to read a book, take a nap or daydream here."
How exciting your soon to be daughter is twelve! Congratulations and keep us updated.
