How To Work Comfortably Online Using One Of The Very Best Domain

Web site must be purchased for your website or websites, as soon as you attain necessary convenience of working over the web. It will be nice whether it is a special one in addition to being compared to the rest, ensures your website?s higher ranking around the internet search engine. It would not do great enough if a wrong website name is selected. There are a few basics that need considering to generate a domain booking.

Finding a good term for the domain is the primary thing. The most recent trend is selecting combinations of dual words. If you attempt out utilizing your personal name then a site could have an expert look. At the time of selection ensure to prevent spellings which might be very fanciful. Also while representing sounds, stay away from 8s and 2s. Instead using the # 1 will work.

Accomplishing an exciting Name
Advisable would be to utilize the name of the product or offerings made on the webpage content within the website. Accomplishing an exciting plus a short name to sign up domain is a superb thing, but carefully laid out is difficult. Creating a few names for the website is helpful enough so that they can be tested around the registry. Employing a.com extension is always valuable in comparison with.info or.net nevertheless, you have to have entry to .net or .info.

If you are interested in a lucrative site and don?t mind competition then other extensions might be grabbed as well. To subscribe domain name is not a very expensive affair. To obtain a better price, bulk website name registration is very beneficial. Depending upon the place where the customers are located accordingly, you are able to select the extension.

Using Two Extensions
For instance in case you are running a business in the usa then.us can be used as an extension. When customers check out the extension they can be sure that these are looking an enterprise which is US specific. It is a good plan for all those web business owners that are considering having customers through the U . s .. You?re likely to be among those fortunate ones who have both extensions of domains open.

In such a case if your tariff of having both the.us as well as the.com extension won?t cost too much you?ll be able to just purchase the two extensions. Geographically your website is capable of getting a presence of their own, immediately. Within the increasing of relationships on the net, this is just about the most crucial things. After the website is ready, your own domain name should be purchased and sent to the search engine which takes it?s once again time indexing sites which might be new.

Building Adequate Traffic
A great deal depends upon the search engines to create your website valuable or not. Based upon your need you could have more domains, which point at one main site. The web page might be placed in one website name and traffic in the other sites might be given to the primary site in a process called forwarding web traffic.

Tormek sharpener question. - Family Woodworking

Well, as usual, I have to put in my two-cents worth.

Several people who had used both, told me that they preferred the Jet slow-speed sharpener to the Tormek. All of them also said that they preferred the Tormek gouge jig to the Jet (it fits the Jet perfectly).

I purchased the Jet. There is a very sad and a very wonderful story behind that. However, I will skip it here (you didn't know that I could do that did you).

Final result (the way I do things now, a couple years later):

1---I always sharpen my flat chisels and plane irons with a WorkSharp 3000. It is so easy, so fast, so sharp that anything else feels cumbersome and inefficient. Depending on how dull I let the tool become, I can resharpen to a mirror, shave your arm sharpness in 10 to 30 seconds. If the edge had a small nick in it, the time would get up into the 2 to 4 minute bracket. If it had a big nick, I would probably go to the dry grinder or work from the top on the WorkSharp 3000.

Please understand---I have absolutely no sharpening genes in my body. I never had a "Wow" sharp tool in my life until I had the 3000.

2---I always change blade shape with my dry 1725 RPM grinder using white stones. It is fast and easy to get the general shape (actually fairly darn accurate shape). I have a water cup built into my grinder table. I use it after every pass and so I have no problems losing temper.

3---Most of the time I do very slight regrinds and finish sharpening of gouges on the Jet. However, I just use it as a Slow Speed Wet Stone. I use a simple home made Wolverine type setup to sharpen gouges on the Jet. The home made unit was made from scrap. It probably took 30 minutes to build. It probably took another 45 minutes to find the "right" piece of scrap and lay it out so I could use it with all of my gouges, cut-offs, etc. Any 10 inch slow speed, wet unit would work fine.

I do prefer the 10 inch wheels. 8 inch give me a little more concave surface than I like. This is definitely not a big problem. If my wheel was 8 inch, I would use it happily.

Would I buy another Jet or Tormek? Absolutely not.

I do sharpen everything around the house: shop tools, Myrna's precious and expensive knives, hatchets, axes, weed pluckers, hoes, shovels and scissors. However, I only do the very mildest of work on scissors because I can purchase a new pair for very little money and I am not really set up for scissors.

Enjoy,

JimB

Harmonic Pets | Bird Talk Magazine Closed

I am still saddened by the news that Bird Talk magazine has closed it?s doors. You see, it was Bird Talk which led me to my birds. I had just subscribed and in one of my first issues pionus parrots were featured. I wanted a bigger bird, but living in an apartment kept me from having one. Until the pionus. When I went to our bird club?s next fair, I found my bird, a blue head pionus. Braynon came home with me, and I?ve had him ever since. That was fifteen years ago.

About a year later Sandee Molena wrote an article on parrotlets for Bird Talk. Again, I was entranced and purchased my first parrotlet. Though that bird is no longer with me, I once again have parrotlets and never would have discovered these fun, delightful little birds without the magazine.

Some said that the magazine went to more ads, less articles over the years. And the online Bird Channel site (http://www.birdchannel.com) took over for the magazine. Yet, there are those who will miss the printed magazine and I am one of them. I am very sorry to see this stalwart presence in the bird world go and hope that something will come along to take its place.

Do you have a fond memory of Bird Talk? What bird did you enjoy seeing featured?

Share and Enjoy

Palestinians in Syria get pulled into civil war

FILE - In this Oct. 5, 2007 file photo, Syrian demonstrators gesture and chant as they march through Yarmouk Palestinian refugee camp near Damascus, to mark Jerusalem Day. Since the start of the unrest, Syria?s half million Palestinians have struggled to remain on the sidelines, saying they have little to gain and much to lose by taking sides in the fight between President Bashar Assad?s regime and the armed rebels seeking to end his family?s 40-year rule. (AP Photo/Bassem Tellawi, File)

(AP) ? Like other communities sucked into Syria's widening civil war, the Yarmouk neighborhood in Damascus has seen death and destruction. Soldiers and snipers have gunned down demonstrators. Some protesters have taken up arms to fight back.

But there's one key difference: Most of Yarmouk's residents are not Syrian citizens. They are Palestinian refugees.

Since the start of the unrest, Syria's half-million Palestinians have struggled to remain on the sidelines. They've said they have little to gain and much to lose by taking sides in the fight between President Bashar Assad's regime and the armed rebels seeking to end his family's four-decade rule.

But young Palestinian refugees, enraged by this month's mounting violence and moved by Arab Spring calls for greater freedoms, are now flooding the streets and even joining the rebels despite efforts by the community's political leadership to keep them out of the conflict.

Large protests began two weeks ago in the country's largest Palestinian refugee camp, Yarmouk, a neighborhood of nearly 150,000 refugees crowded into simple apartment buildings on narrow streets in the Syrian capital. Security forces fired on the protesters, killing at least five and setting off a cycle of funerals, demonstrations and further crackdowns.

On Thursday, activists said troops posted outside Yarmouk were shelling the area, likely in preparation for a raid.

"There are cars that have blown up and homes that have blown up," a Palestinian activist in Yarmouk who gave his name as Abu Omar said via Skype, booms audible in the background. "We are really in a war zone now."

Violence has struck other Palestinian camps too. More than two-thirds of the 17,500 refugees in the southern city of Daraa fled an attack this month, the U.N. said. While many have returned, food and medicine are lacking.

The U.N. says it cannot provide death tolls for Palestinians because of the difficulty of confirming information. The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights estimates that about 150 have been killed since the uprising began in March 2011. Palestinian activists provided the names of 198 people killed, 67 in July alone.

Most of Syria's 496,000 U.N.-registered Palestinian refugees are descended from those who fled or were forced to leave their homes during the war surrounding Israel's creation in 1948. Others have come during subsequent Mideast wars.

While not citizens, Palestinians in Syria have greater rights than their brethren in other Arab countries. They can hold government jobs, attend state universities for free and serve in the military. Assad's regime has long billed itself as a champion of the Palestinian cause.

But the Syrian uprising, which began with political protests and has evolved into a civil war, has put the Palestinians in a bind. As the death toll spiraled, many were horrified by Assad's brutal attempts to crush the opposition but didn't want turn on a government that treated them well.

"On the individual level, there's no love for the regime or its tools of oppression, and no one thinks that it will liberate Palestine for us," said a Palestinian refugee expert in Lebanon who visited Syria this month. "The idea is that if we take a position on one side or the other, we'll get screwed."

He declined to give his name because he travels frequently to Syria.

The political leadership, dominated by older men from an array of Palestinian factions, recalls all too easily how Palestinians elsewhere have suffered for picking sides in foreign conflicts. Kuwait kicked out hundreds of thousands of Palestinians near the end of the first Gulf War because of their leadership's links to Saddam Hussein.

"I fear that in the next stage the camps and the youth will be pulled into the internal conflict," said Fathi Ardat, the Palestine Liberation Organization's top official in Lebanon. "We don't want to be part of that battle."

Some factions have cooled relations with Assad's regime.

Top Hamas officials have decamped from their longtime Damascus headquarters for Egypt and the Gulf. In a February sermon in Cairo, Ismail Haniyeh, the Hamas Prime Minister of Gaza, praised Syrians for "moving toward democracy and reform."

The only group firmly with the regime is the radical Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command, which the U.S. and other countries consider a terrorist organization ? as they do Hamas. Its fighters are widely accused of joining Assad's forces in the crackdown.

To date, no Palestinian faction has denounced the regime, putting them at odds with Palestinian youth in Syria.

The forces pulling young Palestinians into the war grew stronger this month.

On July 11, the bodies of 15 soldiers from the Palestinian Liberation Army, a branch of the Syrian armed forces, were found outside of Aleppo, the country's largest city. There were conflicting accusations about who killed the soldiers, but many Palestinians blamed Assad's regime.

On July 13, hundreds of Palestinians protested in Yarmouk, accusing Assad's forces of killing the soldiers and calling for the regime's ouster because of its brutality toward other Syrians. Security forces opened fire on the crowd, according to amateur videos posted online, and activists say five people were killed.

Protests continued as rebels pushed into the capital from the countryside and clashed with security forces in surrounding neighborhoods, sending civilians streaming into the camp. The U.N. said this week that more than 7,000 displaced people were staying in 17 schools in Yarmouk.

On July 19, rebels ? including some Palestinians ? torched a police station on the camp's edge and a dozen security cars posted around it.

As violence entered the camp, more youth joined in.

"At first, most people said we won't interfere because this is a problem between Syrians," said Mohammed, a refugee from Yarmouk who now lives in Britain. "Later, more said it was about freedom, so it doesn't matter where you're from."

While most have avoided arms, some Palestinians have joined the rebels in battle.

"They have taken a position with the revolution, but they have not made this public because that could bring a massacre to the camp," said a Syrian rebel near Yarmouk who gave his name as Abu Qusay.

Ironically, Palestinian activists say it was their integration into Syrian society ? facilitated by Assad's regime ? that pushed them into the uprising.

"We have never felt that there was a big difference between the Palestinians and the Syrians," said Abu Omar, the Yarmouk activist. He is 22, has spent his whole life in Syria and was getting a free university education when the uprising broke out.

He dismissed the idea that Assad's regime has been a leader in the Palestinian struggle, pointing out that Syria's border with the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights has been largely quiet since 1974.

In fact, he said he hoped a regime change would help the Palestinians achieve their ultimate goal: the return to their ancestral villages in what is now Israel.

"We have to work together with the free people to liberate Syria, then we'll go to the Golan and liberate Palestine," he said. "We'll work hand in hand."

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) ? Katie Couric is getting ready to star in a daytime talk show, but she dreams of starring in a Broadway musical.

The ABC newswoman and TV personality listed several items Thursday from her personal bucket list that also includes going on a date with George Clooney and jumping out of an airplane, despite her fear of heights.

Speaking to reporters at the Television Critics Association conference, Couric said she's excited to be starting from scratch with her new program "that tackles some of the things that you think are important, that you think people want to know more about."

Asked if she's nervous as the Sept. 10 launch date approaches, she confessed, "I think I'm a little scared. If I weren't, I'd worry."

Lighting up the Great White Way may be out of Couric's reach ? at least, based on past experience.

"When I auditioned for my high school musical, 'Carnival,'" Couric recalled, "they cast me as the deaf mute. Very humiliating. I objected, and then they gave me the part of the dancing bear."

Tapping into viewers' bucket lists (or, in hipper parlance, YOLO, for "You Only Live Once") will be a feature of "Katie," the syndicated hour that's among several contenders to fill the void still felt by the absence of Oprah Winfrey's hugely popular show.

"Katie" will deal with more substantive issues as well. Couric said she had already reached out to presidential candidates President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, as well as their wives "and anyone else in their family they'd like to bring."

She has also invited Sarah Palin, whom she famously interviewed while at CBS News during the 2008 campaign, exposing Palin in the minds of many viewers as ill-prepared to be the GOP vice presidential candidate.

None of these invitees have responded yet, Couric said.

Couric announced that the show's theme song, "This Day," was written and performed by superstar Sheryl Crow.

Couric joined ABC News and announced her Disney-syndicated talk show last year after a stint at CBS News.

She said her first few months anchoring "The CBS Evening News" in 2006 were the toughest of her career.

"I was criticized a lot," she explained. "And the criticism seemed so shallow: They didn't like the way I was holding my hands doing the news, or the white jacket I wore after Labor Day." That memory made her laugh.

"It was hard for me to understand some of the vitriol that was unleashed and sent my way," Couric said. "But it was a great character-building experience."

The Self Insurance Security Fund for Workers' Compensation ...

SISF

The Self Insurance Security Fund has immediate ability once notified that they are responsible to use the employers security deposit for being self insured in order to pay the compensation benefits. Along with the responsibility to pay the compensation, the SISF also gains full rights to act as the insurer and has the same rights as the employer when it comes to dealing with claims. The SISF also has the right to obtain reimbursement for the payments they have made from either the company or any person that should be held accountable for the inability to provide insurance for the injured worker. If qualified, the employer can also elect to use an alternative security system through the SISF called the alternative composite deposit program, which allows them to insure as a collective whole instead of as individuals.

Box Office: 'Dark Knight Rises' Earns $160.9 Million In Wake Of Tragedy

LOS ANGELES ? "The Dark Knight Rises" earned a sizeable $160.9 million over the weekend, making it the biggest 2-D opening ever, but falling slightly below expectations following the mass shooting at a Colorado screening of the Batman film.

Warner Bros. said Monday that the final installment of director Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy earned $160,887,295.

The debut makes "The Dark Knight Rises" the biggest 2-D opening ever ahead of its 2008 predecessor, "The Dark Knight." It also gives the movie the third-largest opening after the 3-D films "The Avengers" with $207.4 million and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows ? Part 2" with $169.2 million.

Despite the impressive $160.9 million opening, "The Dark Knight Rises" fell somewhat below box office expectations going into the weekend, which ranged from $170 million to $200 million.

"Clearly, `The Dark Knight Rises' was on everyone's minds," said Paul Dergarabedian, an analyst for Hollywood.com who specializes in box office. "I think the American public showed they were not going to be sacred away from the movie theater by the actions of a lunatic."

Dergarabedian called the film's opening "extremely impressive given the tragic events that unfolded on Friday."

"Dark Knight Rises" earned $19.1 million alone from IMAX screenings. Tickets for 3-D and IMAX films cost a few more dollars than 2-D screenings, netting extra cash at the box office. Movies released in 3-D typically earn under half of their income in 3-D screenings, sometimes as little as a third.

Sony, Fox, Disney, Paramount, Universal and Lionsgate joined "Dark Knight Rises" distributor Warner Bros. in publicly withholding their usual revenue reports this weekend until Monday. They did so out of respect for the victims and their families after the mass shooting that left 12 dead and 58 wounded at a midnight screening of the movie in Aurora, Colo.

Following behind "Dark Knight Rises" in the No. 2 spot was "Ice Age: Continental Drift," the animated Fox film which dropped 56 percent in its second weekend to $20.4 million, and the Sony superhero reboot "The Amazing Spider-Man," which earned $10.9 million during its third weekend at the box office, in the No. 3 position.

The top 20 movies at U.S. and Canadian theaters Friday through Sunday, followed by distribution studio, gross, number of theater locations, average receipts per location, total gross and number of weeks in release, as compiled Monday by Hollywood.com are:

Knock out your competition before your prospect ever asks the price ...

In most political campaigns you can knock off your competition before a single vote is cast?

In Chicago, for example, you need 757 signatures on a petition to get your name on a ballot for a campaign.

Competitors can (and often do) challenge the validity of their competition?s signatures and petitions.

And if enough of them are found to be invalid and a candidate falls shy of the 757 needed, they are knocked off the ballot.

Which means less competition for the candidates who remain and fewer choices for voters.

This, of course, is good news for the candidates still standing.

This is similar to what you want to do in business ? knock the competition off so that you become their only real choice.

If you don?t, you could end up competing on price ? something you don?t want to do.

Fortunately, in business you can do this in a much more ethical way?by giving prospects enough information to make price a non-issue.

If you doubt this, think about the times you?ve paid more than you normally would for something because you were convinced the quality was better and that you were getting good value for your money.

The same idea applies when you are selling your products and services.

You want to remove the apprehension prospects have for using your products or services and convince them you are their only real choice, no matter what you charge.

Now there may be someone who offers a better product or service than you do. But, if you prepare your client, customer or patient correctly, they will be convinced YOU are the best choice for them.

How to prepare a prospect to purchase your products or services

There are a lot of different ways you can build up your image with a client and pave the way for them to want to use your products and services over your competitor?s. ??Below are some examples of things you can do or send to clients to create that frenzy that makes them have to have you.

1)????? Create case studies. Case studies are success stories which showcase how a customer of yours, using your product or service, was able to overcome a problem and experience success.? These can be written or done in a video format. Make sure you include the problem your customer was having, how your product or service was the solution to that problem and the results they had using your product or service.

2) Send testimonials. Include testimonials with everything you send. You can put some below your email signature. Create a page of testimonials to include with items you mail. Or even create videos and other testimonial pieces. ?To make these the most credible, be sure to include a first and last name (their title and/or company name can increase credibility too.) ?For example, if you sell a health product and you have a testimonial from a doctor who recommends your product to his patients, his testimonial will seem extremely believable and carry a lot of weight.

3) Send a ?shock and awe? package. When you signed up for your trial GKIC membership, you received a shock and awe package. And if you were at SuperConference this year, you saw several examples, including the package Marketer of the Year Walter Bergeron uses which includes a case that opens and plays a video and includes a treat for prospects?one of the famous New Orleans King Cakes.

Shock and awe packages are a great way to make a big impression on your prospect?especially when you are selling high dollar products or services. The package, designed to overwhelm the recipient, is stuffed full of a variety of materials and convincing information and delivered to him or her unexpectedly.

Typically the package arrives in a large box by courier or some other impressive delivery service.

Here are some of the items you might want to include:

  • Folders or binders with testimonials and case studies about you
  • A sales letter
  • DVD?s of yourself giving a presentation
  • A collection of articles you?ve written or that have been written about you, your product or service
  • A book you?ve written or if you don?t have your own book yet, Dan Kennedy suggests you consider including a book about the topic or problem your product or service will solve that you recommend the client read to get a better understanding of the subject.
  • CD?s of audio recordings of interviews with you on tele-seminars
  • A sample of your product
  • Items relating to you, your product or service (For instance a high-end spa might send a pair of plush slippers or a robe.)

4) Send a CD or DVD of a speech you gave on a topic related to his problem. If you?ve given a speech on a topic related to your prospect?s problem, send a CD or DVD of it to him.? If you?re just starting out, you might think about joining a toastmasters club and practice giving speeches about topics related to your niche. Then ask someone to video you at an event so you?ll have a video to send out.

By giving prospects materials that demonstrate credibility and results, you will paint a picture of the success they will have when they use your products or services, eliminating your competition before price ever enters the picture.

The Origins Of Feminism . - Small Business Branding

As is well known on our planet since ancient times and still reigns patriarchy. For many centuries, women are on the minor roles compared with men. She was deprived of many rights, could not get an education without could participate in elections. Men banned from women's active lifestyle, set in a financially dependent on you. Most of the differences between men and women associated with the millennial conditioning. Women mind is depressed man who made her his slave, turned it into a secondary citizen in the world. He knows that she is beautiful, it knows that its independence is a threat to him. had to wear a burqa and hide your face so that no one but her husband could not see the beauty of their faces, the depth of their eyes. You may find that Elmira can contribute to your knowledge.

In Hinduism, a woman should die after her husband. What a great zeal! He owned it all my life, but even after his death, he wants to possess her. After the death of anything can happen. She can find another partner, perhaps even more worthy than he. And what happened in Europe during the Middle Ages. This refers to the "holy" Inquisition, with its "witch hunt". They condemned the word "witch", and that's one of the revered words. This word simply means "witch" - a wise woman.

It comes from the word "Veda", ie, to "know". But in the Middle Ages, Christianity was confronted with danger. It turned out that thousands of Women were much wiser than the bishops, cardinals and the Pope.

Arduino Leonardo finally launches with new pin layout, lower price (video)

Arduino Leonardo finally launches with new pin layout, lower price

We caught our first glimpse at the new, simplified Arduino Leonardo at Maker Faire back in September of last year. At the time, we were promised a late October shipping date, but it failed to materialize. Finally, Massimo Banzi has taken the wraps off the slimmed down microcontroller and its now in stock at retailers across the web. The Leonardo sports a new pin layout, dubbed R3 (which the Uno has also been updated with), that will become standard across all Arduino boards. That's a big deal for shield makers who only have to design and manufacture an add-on once to ensure it's compatible with the entire product line. The new layout also adds some extra pins and versatility, especially in the realm of shields, which can use to the new IOREF pin to determine the voltage of the processor and thus its model. That means a shield doesn't have to be designed specifically with the new ARM-based Due in mind. The other big news is that the circuitry for converting USB to serial communication and the processor itself have been combined, which not only simplifies the design and drives down costs, but allows it to communicate directly with a computer and imitate all sorts of accessories (such as keyboards and mice). Best of all, is the price. The Leonardo, complete with headers, costs just $25 -- a good $10 less than the Uno -- while the headerless, solder-friendly version retails for $22.50. Check out the video after the break for a few more details from Massimo himself.

July 20, 2012 6:51 pm by Stephanie Baum | 0 Comments

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved a drug developed by Novartis (NYSE: NVS) for advanced breast cancer in post-menopausal women. The Swiss pharmaceutical company?s drug has been approved to be used in combination with Aromasin a drug used to treat menopausal women with early breast cancer who have already been treated with tamoxifen, which is marketed by Pfizer (NYSE: PFE).

Afinitor, approved for use in kidney cancer patients in 2009, has also been approved to treat tumors in the brain and pancreas. Analysts say it could be Novartis? next blockbuster drug, with projected sales topping more than $1 billion, seeing as it has already been approved for similar indications in Europe. Novartis? U.S. headquarters are in East Hanover, New Jersey.

Afinitor is the first approval of an mTOR inhibitor drug against hormone-receptor positive advanced breast cancer, according to Dr. Richard Pazdur, director of the Office of Hematology and Oncology Products in the FDA?s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research in a statement from the regulator.

An mTOR inhibitor blocks the activity of of the mammalian target of rapamycin, which regulates growth factors that stimulate cell division and metabolism in tumor cells.
To date, more than six drugs have been approved to treat advanced breast cancer in post menopausal women.

A clinical study of 724 women designed to measure the length of time a patient lived without the cancer progressing, found that patients who received Afinitor plus Aromasin combination had a 4.6 month improvement in the median time to disease progression or death compared to patients receiving the placebo plus Aromasin, according to an FDA statement.

This year an estimated 226,870 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer, and about 39,510 will die from the disease, according to the FDA statement.

(AP) ? Ashley Moser drifted in and out of consciousness in the ICU, bullets lodged in her throat and a gunshot wound to her abdomen. In her waking moments, she called for her 6-year-old daughter Veronica.

Nobody had the heart to tell the 25-year-old mother that Veronica was already dead, the youngest victim killed at a Colorado movie theater in one of the worst mass shootings in U.S. history.

"All she's asking about, of course, is her daughter," said Ashley Moser's aunt Annie Dalton. "She was a vibrant 6-year-old. She was excited, she'd just learned how to swim. She was a great little girl, excited about life ? she should be at 6 years old."

The young girl was among the 12 people killed when a gunman barged into a crowded Colorado theater, set off gas canisters and opened fire as spectators dove for cover. Dozens of others were injured, including the 25-year-old Ashley Moser and 10 others in critical condition as of Friday night.

Colorado authorities on Saturday released the names of those killed, eight men, three women and Veronica Moser-Sullivan. The oldest victim was 51-year-old Gordon Cowden.

All died of gunshot wounds, according to the release by the Arapahoe County coroner's office.

One of the 12, Matthew McQuinn, has been tentatively identified and is awaiting final identification, though his family's attorney confirmed to The Associated Press that McQuinn was among those killed.

Rob Scott of Dayton, Ohio, said McQuinn died after diving in front of his girlfriend and her older brother to shield them from the gunfire. Scott's account could not be immediately verified.

For Alex Sullivan, it was to be a weekend of fun: He planned to ring in his 27th birthday with friends at the special midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" and then celebrate his first wedding anniversary on Sunday.

Late Friday, Sullivan's family confirmed that police told them he was among those killed.

"He was a very, very good young man," said Sullivan's uncle, Joe Loewenguth. "He always had a smile, always made you laugh. He had a little bit of comic in him. Witty, smart. He was loving, had a big heart."

Micayla Medek, 23, was also among the dead, her father's cousin, Anita Busch, told the Associated Press.

Busch said the news, while heartbreaking, was a relief for the family after an agonizing day of waiting for news.

"I hope this evil act ... doesn't shake people's faith in God," she said.

On Saturday morning, parents of John Larimer released a statement that Navy officials notified them about midnight that their 27-year-old son was one of the 12 killed.

The family said that Larimer's brother is working with the Navy to take his body home to Crystal Lake, Ill. He was with a unit that belongs to U.S. Fleet Cyber Command/U.S. Tenth Fleet at Buckley Air Force.

An Air Force reservist who worked at Buckley also was among the victims killed. Sgt. Jesse Childress, 29, was a cyber-systems operator, the Air Force said in a statement. Another reservist was treated and released after also being wounded in the shootings.

A blogger and aspiring sports reporter who recently wrote of surviving a Toronto shooting was killed, the woman's brother said.

The death of Jessica Ghawi, who was also known as Jessica Redfield, was a "complete and utter shock," said her brother, Jordan Ghawi.

He has been using his blog and Twitter account to update what he knew about his sister's condition. He also appeared on the NBC "Today" show.

Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates said Friday evening that 10 victims died at the theater and two others later died from their injuries.

Jordan Ghawi said on his website that a man who was with his sister at the theater described the chaos, saying he and Jessica Ghawi dropped to take cover when the gunman first started shooting. Jessica Ghawi was shot in the leg, her brother wrote, describing details relayed to him by a man identified on the blog only as a mutual friend named Brent.

The man was then shot, but he continued attending to Jessica Ghawi's wound before he realized she had stopped screaming, Jordan Ghawi stated. The man said Jessica Ghawi had been shot in the head.

Jessica Ghawi, 24, moved to Denver from Texas about a year ago and friends and colleagues described her as outgoing, smart and witty.

Ghawi blogged at length about surviving the Eaton Centre mall shooting in Toronto that killed two people and sent several others to the hospital.

Jessica Ghawi wrote of the Toronto shooting: "I was shown how fragile life was on Saturday. I saw the terror on bystanders' faces. I saw the victims of a senseless crime. I saw lives change. I was reminded that we don't know when or where our time on Earth will end. When or where we will breathe our last breath."

The other victims were Alexander J. Boik, Jonathan T. Blunk, Rebecca Ann Wingo and Alexander C. Teves, according to the coroner's office.
