Cheli ?Miryam? (Avina) Quillen

Sonora resident Cheli Quillen died March 26 at her home. She was 52.
Mrs. Quillen was born to Connie Avina and Daniel Arroyo Avina.
She worked as a seamstress for several years in Sonora, altering wedding dresses, formal gowns and restoring antique clothing. She also became an instructional aide for various schools in Tuolumne County when her children were in school.
Mrs. Quillen enjoyed painting, drawing, sculpting miniatures and creating crafts.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Connie Avina; and sister, Stella Ramos.
She is survived by her husband, Yochanan ?Rick? Quillen, of Sonora; children and children-in-law, Clyde ?CJ? and Courtney Haight, of San Diego, Cassy and Matt Smylie, of Ione, Paul Quillen, of Sonora, Heather Quillen, of Sonora, Sarah and Brandon Cutajar, of the Bay Area, Hannah Quillen-Ogas, of San Jose; grandchildren, Barrett Haight, of San Diego, Alex, Luke and Jacob Smylie, all of Ione, Aaron and Elijah Quillen, of Sonora, Ricardo, Teanna, Johna and Aiden Quillen, all of San Jose; sisters, Rosa Avina, of Sonora, Gloria Boone, of Volcano, and Henrietta Park, of San Antonio, Texas; brother-in-law, David Park, of San Antonio; three nieces; and one nephew; and her father, Daniel Avina, of Mexico.
A celebration of life with potluck will be held 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Kiriluk Ranch, 17900 Apple Colony Road, Tuolumne.
Home of Peace Cemetery in Sacramento is handling arrangements.

?Arnold resident Justine Brockett died Feb. 28 at her home. She was 73.
Mrs. Brockett was born in Fairmont, Minn. to Cassandra and Martin Hallett. She then moved to Ridgecrest, Calif., and attended Burroughs High School.
She attended California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, where she met Richard J. Brockett. They married in 1960.
Mrs. Brockett was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in San Jose.
She enjoyed art, opera, traveling and reading.
Mrs. Brockett was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Richard J. Brockett, of Arnold; daughter, Bonnie Brockett Kuhn, of Murphys; son-in-law, Simon Granville, of Murphys; son, Calvin Richard Brockett, of San Jose; grandchildren, Austin Peter Kuhn, of San Jose, and Alexander Peter Kuhn, of Murphys; and step-grandchildren, Krista Mae Becker, of Corvallis, Ore. and Max Becker, of Grandview, Wash.

Lenore Adelaide (Hennig) Hemminger
March 4, 1927 ? March 23, 2013
San Andreas resident Lenore Hemminger died March 23 in Angels Camp. She was 86.
Mrs. Hemminger was born in Chicago, Ill., to Daniel C. Hennig and Selma (Kemnitz) Hennig.
She married Paul Hemminger in 1947 and became a homemaker in New York. They also owned and operated Gator?s Wharf Restaurant in Oklahoma, moving there after his retirement in 1984.
She enjoyed travelling the country in their RV.
Mrs. Hemminger was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Paul Hemminger, on March 23, 2009.
She is survived by her children, Pamela Hemminger, of La Canada-Flintridge, James Hemminger, of Mountain Ranch, and Steven Hemminger, of Los Gatos; grandchildren, Carly and Mariah Hemminger, of Los Gatos, and Jeff, Eric, and Kimberly Miller, all of La Canada-Flintridge.
Private family services were held.?
