Disgraced pro-cyclist Lance Armstrong has admitted to doping during his professional career, according to published reports. The remarks came during the taping of an interview with Chicago?s very own Oprah Winfrey ? which will air on the OWN network this Thursday.

Armstrong has faced doping allegations throughout his career, which included 7 Tour De France titles. Armstrong has denied any wrongdoing for years and continued to do so even in the wake of his lifetime cycling and professional sports ban, bestowed upon him by the United States Anti-Doping Agency after his teammates testified against him. Armstrong was also stripped of his titles, lost most of his sponsorships, and had to step down from leading the Livestrong foundation he created after surviving testicular cancer that had spread to his lungs and brain.

Many are now speculating that this admission of guilt with have multiple legal?repercussions. First, his former teammate and whistle-blower Floyd Landis filed suit against Armstrong claiming he defrauded the US Postal service out of millions of dollars. The Justice Department is expected to join in on the suit to try to recoup some of the lost money. Second, Armstrong has opened the door to many other pending and future civil suits to continue or commence. Finally, potential perjury charges against Armstrong stemming from his sworn testimony in an?arbitrary?matter will not apply due to the lapsing of the statute of limitations.
